JKAA National Championships – Gold Coast

Matt and Duane recently covered the 2009 JKAA National Championships on the Gold Coast and congratulations go to all the competitors. Our photographers always enjoy covering this well organised and friendly event, and it is the first time since 2004 we had covered the JKAA Nationals. All the images available to view at the following link
Duane used the Canon Mk3 Camera and the 1.8 EF lense while Matt used his Nikon D300 with the 200 2.8 lense . The light at the Carrara Sports Complex is very good as they can use the natural light through the skylights, however with the changing weather conditions outside throughout the day, there was up to a changing 3 stop difference within the space of a few minutes.
Duanes action photos were generally taken at 1000-2500th of a second at 2000 asa at f1.8.
Backgrounds were very good and they moved positions throughout the competiton to keep the black and dark backgrounds in frame on day 1, and on day 2 made good use of the crowd and signage backgrounds.
